Lead Shipper

Cloverland Dairy is seeking a Lead Shipper to work in our Cooler Warehouse in Salisbury Maryland.  A Lead Shipper provides guidance and leadership to all department personnel on an assigned shift.  Works with warehouse staff and oversees warehouse operations including order picking, receiving, inventory and loading.  The position ensures that orders are picked accurately and shipped on time.  There is a strong emphasis to ensure a team environment, warehouse safety, workflow efficiency and fulfillment accuracy.

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Sunday 4:00am - 2:30pm and Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 2:00pm - 12:30am

PAY:

  • $21.63/hr, with overtime opportunity

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:         

  • Lead and direct a team of order selectors, cleaners, receiving and loading staff to load and unload trucks, assist with troubleshooting problems and coaching them through making the correct adjustments.
  • Move straight truck and tractor-trailers to the dock for loading and stage in the yard for delivery.
  • Communicate job expectations, including day to day activities.
  • Ensures equipment in the area assigned is in working order and that working conditions are safe throughout the shift.
  • Manage overall product quality to ensure all standards and specifications are met.
  • Train new employees in all areas of warehouse operation.
  • Assist in the improvement of overall efficiency and workflow of the operations.
  • Confirm picked tickets and required paperwork are completed correctly and turned in to management at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain warehouse cleanliness and safety.
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Warehouse shipping experience required.
  • Food or production experience required.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Ability to operate a straight truck and tractor/trailer is required.
  • Ability to operate an electric pallet jack and/or forklift is preferred.
  • Basic computer and math skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work withing timelines and in pressure situations.
  • Ability to handle multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
  • Familiar with manufacturing system.
  • Strong interpersonal skills

  • Confidentiality is required.
  • Able to perform light administrative duties.
  • Must be able to work on your feet for an entire shift.
  • Able to frequently lift and carry product weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to frequently reach, squat, walk and bend.
  • Must be able to work in a cooler environment of 38 degrees for an entire shift.
