Production Superintendent - Baltimore

The basic functions of a Production Superintendent at Cloverland Farms Dairy in Baltimore, Maryland are to supervise the staff, organize and monitor workflow for production of fluid milk, juices and tea products.  This position plans and assigns work, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision for the assigned production shift and associated personnel.  Effectively motivate, train and communicate with the assigned shift teams to assure superior levels of safety, reliability, sanitation and quality. 
  • Ensure individual and team levels of performance meet or exceed goals and expectations.
  • Prepare and conduct team meetings as necessary for proper communication and development of the team.  Work with the Maintenance and Quality Assurance staff to create a cooperative environment on their assigned shift.
  • Develop an expert knowledge of the production process and all associated equipment.  Be able to analytically and systematically troubleshoot manufacturing issues and develop the team to be self-directed in the same activities.
  • Perform daily checks and reports to ensure the highest quality of product produced is within Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) as they apply to the production of the product.  Maintain shift performance and quality documentation.
  • Participate in and lead GMP’s that improve safety, quality, reliability, sanitation, and reduce waste.
  • Maintain the plant’s manufacturing equipment in sanitary condition ensuring employees clean and sanitize tanks and pipe routings, hook up and load / unload raw/finished material delivery tankers, and clean work areas according to plant SOPs.
  • Reinforce sense of urgency during production runs and period of machine downtime. 
  • Effectively communicate issues to management team.
  • Review employee timecards in UKG.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a Dairy, fluid milk production and/or beverage production facility.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience is preferred.
  • Possess the ability to work with groups of people with varying levels of education, expertise, and backgrounds. 
  • Ability to achieve results through others.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and other job-related software applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.  Must be self-motivated and a self-starter.
  • Knowledge of pasteurization and packaging of fluid liquid is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance and kneel, bend, squat, reach, grip, push, pull and perform elevated work.
  • Ability to work in varied environmental conditions (hot, cold, wet).
  • Allergens: We prepare products with milk ingredients. Team members must be able to work with this ingredient and participate in sensory.

Work Location

  • 100% on-site
  • Rotating shift (4 days / 12 hour shift) - 6:00pm-6:00am - off Sunday
